Back Alley Tales is an adult game that I would have to say is a point and click type of game. This is one of those games that originally, I was not sure about, I was having issues getting into the game at all. I would like to mention first that the game is incredibly short, which actually leads to what helps start getting into the game. Overall though, I think this game had some relatively unique ideas and enjoyed my time with it.

The idea of the game is what caught my attention with back alley tales. We are employed as a security guard to monitor a security camera. Generally, that would seem so boring and pretty terrible job to have for several reasons. There is something a little exciting about it though, because you see that the camera you are watching is for a back alley brothel. Here is where women are taking customers into the back alley and banging them like crazy! You get drawn into that voyeur-type of situation with these thoughts always on your mind.

I have played many games like it over the years, but I still had a hard time getting invested in Back Alley Tales. I think that while the pixel art style is well done, there are far too many lewd games doing this style for my liking. The few, female characters you control in Back Alley Tales are attractive enough and there is actually a kind of “internal” camera as well if you get what I am saying! However, what I will say is that there are not many sex scenes at all, but the game is quite short. All of the “johns” are done in this kind of fugly silhouette style which I really am not sure if I like this or not.
Remember before how I said that it took me a while to get into Back Alley Tales? The reason is that the game pretty much just throws you into it! You control the camera and you just have to click around hoping that you stumble on the right thing to make one of the very few sex scenes happen. It has a very horrible UI that is not intuitive at all and I could see many people turning it off five minutes in. Dig in for the long boring haul, and it gets kind of fun. The only thing with that is that by the time you figure it out the game is already over!
In many ways, Back Alley Tales is a game that feels more like a demo than it does an actual full game. From what I understand though this game is “complete” so I do not think there will be any more updates to it. I think that they have a pretty interesting premise here and the art style is certainly done very well. If you can get past the confusing UI and lack of direction in what to do at the start of the game, this can be a fun and naughty experience.

I have to say that Back Alley Tales is a good game, but I feel with just a bit more fine tuning it could actually be great. The first time I played this I had a hard time getting into it and just thought that it was ok. However, I went back to it a week or so later and for some reason, it just clicked with me and I ended up having a much better time with it. It is a game that can be hard to get into, but once you do, it really is something that is very interesting and well worth sticking with.
Back Alley Tales is a bit of a cheeky premise and one that has a rather “voyeuristic” kind of vibe to it which I found quite amusing. The premise of the story is that we have just gotten this job as a security watcher at this rather grimy place. The job is a dull one, but we quickly learn that these cameras are in fact watching this back alley which is a prime spot for ladies of the night and their “clients”. We then spend the rest of our time watching people get it on as it is the only way to get through this crappy job.
It Leaves Enough To The Imagination
I usually like a good story in a game, but with a game like Back Alley Tales, I think that less is more when it comes to the story. You see, there is not really too much of a story going on here. We just watch these rather sexy cams of transactions going down and we have to kind of make up in our own minds what the story is that is taking place. I am sure for many that this is not going to be something that they will like, but I have to admit that not knowing what the full deal with these people was is actually something that added to the whole voyeuristic nature of the game!
Point And Click, But Do Not Be Seen!
The gameplay is the real stumbling block of Back Alley Tales. As I said, it took me until my second attempt at playing the game to appreciate what is going on here. It is best described as a point and click style game. You man the security camera and you have to get to the right place and click on the right things to make the scene happen. There is really not a lot to the gameplay, but the confusing AI and now knowing what you have to do can lead to a bit of frustration. To be honest, the game is very short and chances are you will see all it has to offer in one sitting. However, I would bet that some people may become frustrated before then.
The Pixel Ladies Of The Night
While lewd pixel art is nothing new, Back Alley Tales does it very well. I like how nice and large the characters are and the game is animated very well too. There are a decent number of sex scenes here, with sex of all types and it is pretty hot, well as hot as pixel art can be. However, there is one thing that is not something I care for and that is the internal camera. Why do so many lewd games do this? To be honest, it is done so much that I am thinking, I must be in the minority here and most people love it! Apart from this, what we have here is some grade-A XXX pixel art!
If I heard someone telling me that they love Back Alley Tales, I could understand them completely. However, if someone once told me that they do not really love Back Alley Tales, I could understand this too. This is the game that is quite good, but I would not say it is perfect. In my opinion, it would have received at least 8 points from me if it had had a more user-friendly interface and if it had had some guidance on what you are supposed to do. Another thing that I would like to share is that I highly recommend you to try to play this game again if you have played it once and did not have a great impression. I did it and I enjoyed the game during its second time way more.
