Games Operators and Jutsu Games are set to breathe new life into the zombie genre with their latest title, Infection Free Zone, slated for Early Access on April 11, 2024. This innovative zombie survival management game distinguishes itself by leveraging real map data to allow players to strategize and survive in virtually any city across the globe, transitioning from the traditional overhead maps of Jutsu’s previous titles, such as 911 Operator and 112 Operator, to immersive 3D environments.

The unique premise has even intrigued audiences who once thought they were tired of zombie media; Infection Free Zone offers a novel twist by allowing players to fortify their hometowns or their favorite city against the undead and utilizing local geography to their advantage. Though, in the game, buildings won’t be replicas of their real-world counterparts, there will be an added layer of complexity to the strategy in sending your survivors to pillage essentials from the town’s pharmacies and schools while also fortified your base to keep the newly-dubbed Infection Free Zone free of zombie presence.

Tied in with this is the decision to focus more heavily on management and strategy rather than direct combat, bringing a new twist to the genre for those intrigued by the logistics of post-apocalyptic survival. The objective is simple: establish an area for humans to repopulate their city and, eventually, the world.

The Early Access period, expected to last for around a year, will be used to use player feedback to expand the world, adding new buildings and features. A “prologue” demo is currently available on Steam which will allow players to see the game’s mechanics for themselves on Jutsu Games’s preset six cities. In the meantime, those interested in the Early Access version of the game can wishlist and follow it. With its unique premise and real-world geography gameplay, Infection Free Zone looks to be a fresh and interesting take on the zombie survival genre.
