CHARK is a unique chess-inspired roguelike that challenges players to balance risk, strategic synergies, and careful planning. The gameplay revolves around creating powerful combos from piece-based cards, executing two moves per turn, and surviving enemy counteractions while aiming to reach the required score to move forward. Every decision you make affects the tempo, positioning, and resources available for upgrading your deck and abilities.

Gameplay Mechanics

At the start of each turn, you are presented with three cards, but you may only select two to play. Selecting a card reveals all possible legal moves for that piece on a compact 5×5 grid. You can maneuver, set up exchanges, or force tactical plays, all while anticipating the enemy’s advancing moves. If your piece ends a turn vulnerable to attack, you lose a life. Completing levels rewards you with currency, with extra bonuses awarded for any unused cards in your hand.

This currency can be spent in the in-game Shop to purchase Artifacts—special items that alter the game’s fundamental rules, creating new strategic possibilities and opening alternative paths to victory.

I am actively seeking publishing partners and collaborators interested in joining this project. Discussions can cover terms such as a 60/40 revenue split. Ideal partners will provide quality assurance, marketing expertise, and assistance with a PC and Steam launch—experience with mobile platforms is a bonus but not required. The game is developed using Unity, and a playable demo is ready for review.
