This project originated from my deep interest in Japanese folklore, particularly focusing on the eerie Rokurokubi legend. My goal was to merge elements of horror narrative with traditional cultural themes, introducing a unique twist that engages players in a haunting experience.

Additionally, this game serves as part of a university assignment aimed at enhancing my Japanese language skills. While the Japanese used may not be flawless due to my ongoing learning process, the game reflects this educational journey by intertwining fear and folklore in an interactive format.

Setting and Atmosphere

Located on the outskirts of a declining town, Yomi Hill High School (黄泉坂高校) is renowned not only for its scholastic achievements but also for an unsettling quietness that pervades its halls. Beneath the polished corridors and walls adorned with honor certificates, there lurk mysteries such as locked rooms, lost documents, and hushed rumors that fade before they are fully told.

Students recount tales of classmates who mysteriously disappear, strange sounds echoing through the west wing, and an unseen watcher that lingers in empty spaces. These elements combine to create an eerie ambiance that sets the stage for the unfolding horror.

Plot Introduction

Ren Takahashi, an average high schooler, is tasked with a simple errand: to fetch a file from the storage room in the west wing. However, as he steps into the shadowed area, he becomes aware of a sinister presence stalking him silently from the darkness.

His investigation leads him to find a missing person poster featuring Aiko Hanabira, a top student whose disappearance remains a mystery. Her sister, Sora, reaches out desperately for assistance. Drawn into a reality far stranger than he expected, Ren chooses to help, setting off a chain of terrifying discoveries.

Gameplay and Themes

Players will delve into the secrets surrounding the lost file, the vanished student, and the haunted school environment dominated by a Rokurokubi — a mythical creature known for its elongated neck that transcends dimensions, blending memory and terror.

The game challenges players to navigate the thin line between reality and supernatural, piecing together forgotten histories while striving to survive a school that harbors lingering spirits and dark secrets.
