Vintage Story is an uncompromising wilderness survival sandbox game that draws inspiration from eldritch horror themes. Imagine yourself in a world ravaged by nature and haunted by unsettling temporal disturbances. You can relive the dawn of human civilization or forge your own path.

Evolution Through Ages

Starting with nothing in the Stone Age, you must learn to survive by foraging, hunting, crafting, and fighting. As the seasons change, you can advance by smelting copper to create more powerful tools, crafting bronze alloys, mastering ironworking, mechanizing tasks, and eventually reaching the Steel Age.

Original Story Elements

Take on the role of a mysterious, tall blue creature and uncover the remnants of a forgotten civilization. Unlike traditional linear storytelling, you’ll have to piece together who you are and what has happened from the limited evidence available. Your journey will involve encounters with strange creatures, discovering old stories, battling temporal instability, and enduring temporal storms.

Unique Landscape Generation

Explore a vast open world filled with a diverse array of creatures, from cute to horrifying. Vintage Story employs extensive procedural technology to create unique landscapes, climate conditions, and geological features. This ensures that each exploration experience is fresh and exciting.

Realistic World Simulation

The VS game engine, developed over six years, fully simulates real-world phenomena such as seasons, soil fertility, rock strata, localized weather patterns, rain, snowfall and accumulation, hail, climate distributions, food spoilage, body temperature regulation for animals, farming practices, block physics interactions, inspiring sunsets and night skies, mineralogy processes like knapping and clayforming, metallurgy techniques including smithing, microblock editing capabilities and more.

Vintage Story is heavily inspired by natural processes from our world and integrates them into the game in an engaging way. Our aim is to capture the beauty of nature and amplify it within our game.

Vintage Story is committed to independence from market influence. There are no marketplace purchases, loot boxes, microtransactions, paid DLCs, hidden fees, pay-to-win mechanics, ads, user data monetization, software patents, shareholders or publishers involved.
